This update will seek to encapsulize the upsurge in domestic extremism and the targeting of mosques and synagogues. There is no place among the true faithful for violence. There is no place for hatred even for those who choose to express themselves with the most harsh methods. It seems the world is whirling out of control. Guns, violence, extreme ideas, thoughts and the inability to restrain oneself from the ultimate actions of hate. So often the people who do these acts are very young, and almost entirely male. We have to ask ourselves how have we failed in this generation that so many are so filled with hate? Have Dr. King's words been silenced? Has his desire for "All God's Chilren" to live in peace and harmony been lost?
Everytime there is an incident, we recoil and seek to find a comfortable, safe place to sit and to consider what now? We look around for help and there is none. We tremble at the thought of entering a place of worship only to be met with an angry person with a gun. Yes, there needs to be better gun control, but guns don't crawl out of closets, drawers, and lock boxes to fire themselves, people shoot people. Should we then turn to the media to seek where there might be places to shore up the leaks of bad news, or even fake or exaggerated news that might push a vulnerable mind over the edge? Can parents do more? Can teachers do more?
Women are more fearful than ever that their bodies are being objectified, that men just don't get it, or won't get it. The idea that a woman who is married has the right to her body is "odd" and extreme to some people, even women. Domestic violence is a part of all of this. Yet, police departments jail innocent women and expose them to the evils of incarceration when they seek to protect themselves from the men who batter them. We are so off kilter in this world. Perhaps where we should start is at a place of humanity. To remember to teach, preach and live in a way that honors the human life, the human structure, and spirit. It would be harder to pull a trigger if you saw all people as worthy and human. As much as we push to instill this idea into our people, there are forces that have the resources and man power to push back just as hard. Social media policing is spotty and often directed at the wrong people. There is a term, each one teach one. If you can turn one person around, do it. Never think that your voice does not matter in this war against dehumanization. Keep fighting, keep working, keep putting up resistance to the forces that want to see this nation, this world demoralized and destroyed from within. QBM mourns for the loss of life we've seen lately everywhere, we stand with the mourners and with those who weep and seek justice. We stand with our brothers and sisters of the Abrahamic faiths.
People of faith, pray. Even more, demonstrate the life of faith. Put your actions where your prayers are.
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN !!!!
