The Blessed month of Ramadan will soon be upon us, May 26, 2017 or by moon sighting. IFTAR AT QAL'BU MARYAM WOMEN'S MOSQUE, MAY 27 AT 7PM, FOOD, AND MUSIC
During the holy month of Ramadan Muslims worldwide are bid to fast. From sun up to sun set for 23- 30 days Muslims refrain from eating, smoking, swearing, and any type of avoidable sin. At sun rise Muslims will wake and have their first and only meal of the day, Suhoor. At sunset they come together in their homes to eat their evening meal, Iftar. Fasting is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. During Ramadan each night Muslims gather to hear the recitation of the Quran, this is called Tarawih. When Ramadan is finished the day of EID is celebrated with prayer and the community gathers in a modest festive way to celebrate the end of the fast.
